Celebrating 10 Years with Winemaker Chloe

Chloe Gabrielsen, our wonderful winemaker here at Lake Chalice, is celebrating 10 years with Lake Chalice and over 20 within the industry here in Marlborough.

Chloe takes a boutique approach to winemaking, fermenting single vineyard parcels separately so every Lake Chalice wine tells the story of the pace it comes from. Her work is slow, curious, deliberate.

Chloe hails from Tūrangi, on the shores of Lake Taupō. Her early exposure to wine was helping her parents choose their favourite wines from their local store. After college she completed a degree in Oenology and Viticulture here in Marlborough and completed her first harvest with Saint Clair Family Estate in 2006.

Now, 20 vintages later, Chloe is Winemaker at Lake Chalice Wines, delivering a fresh perspective to a wine label with over 25 years on the Marlborough wine map, informed by her many years working alongside some of the industry’s top winemakers.

"The last 20 years in the wine industry has been an incredibly dynamic environment to be a part of, it’s constantly changing and evolving to the tidal shifts of the market however I think for me, the best part of the industry will always be its people," Chloe says. "That’s where all the learning happens!"

We are so lucky to have Chloe on the team. Not only does she make stunning wines she is an all round delight to be around.
