The Plume range looks to bring a different perspective to fine wines. The core idea comes from the link between the feather and the land, the people and the environment. It’s about fine attention to detail, where simplicity and complexity bathe in beauty. The wines in this range utilise many traditional winemaking techniques to enable a true expression of terroir. Made only in years of outstanding harvest and usually bottle aged for release.
Among the Plume range, our Chardonnay continues to soar on the world stage, and the 2022 vintage is no exception. We are thrilled to share the recent success of our 2022 Plume Chardonnay, which proudly represented New Zealand at the prestigious 2025 French wine competition, Chardonnay du Monde. Out of 518 wines from 34 countries, judged by 200 international wine experts, our Plume Chardonnay 2022 was the only New Zealand wine to be awarded a medal, earning an esteemed Silver Medal.
About The Wine:
Winemaker Chloe Gabrielsen describes creating this Chardonnay as a blank canvas. “We’ve selected only the very best barrels from within the batch. Each barrel adding a layer of complexity to the blend because we have so many components to choose from, adding different aspects of oak influence from the coopers, texture from oak or solids and flavour profile from the fermentations.” Creating this special release Chardonnay is less work, more play. Delicate aromas of perfumed spice, white stone fruit, nectarine and roasted hazelnut. The palate is intense and opulent with savoury, ripe stone fruit and oyster shell. There is an underlying cinnamon powder spice that leads to a toasty, persistent finish.

This internationally recognised event awards the world’s best Chardonnay wines, providing a mark of distinction in an increasingly competitive market. Winning a medal at Chardonnay du Monde signifies quality and excellence, offering wineries a unique opportunity to showcase their achievements on the global stage.
